1. Load catalog exports
Use CSV files with column names in the first row. Shopify exports product CSVs; QuickBooks exports may be Excel, which you can save as UTF-8 CSV. If a report has company or report-title rows above the columns, remove those rows from a copy first. Never use customer or transaction exports.
2. Choose the catalog columns
SKUs are compared as text, preserving leading zeroes. Only exact SKU equality is treated as a match; name similarity is a review hint and never an automatic match.
Review before connecting
| Result | Shopify SKU | Shopify item | QuickBooks item | Review note |
|---|
A close name is not proof that two items are the same. Confirm every suggested mapping in QuickBooks and with your bookkeeper.
Review every suggested result
Use this before a new connector setup, migration, or repair when you need to compare product identifiers across Shopify and QuickBooks.
Exact match means one Shopify SKU equals one QuickBooks SKU. Name review is only a prompt for a person to check; it is never an automatic match.
CSV headers vary by export and are selected manually. The report checks each Shopify row; it does not list QuickBooks-only rows. It does not infer variant relationships, inventory counts, tax codes, or accounting treatment. Verify results in the source systems before making changes.
